Carmanah's key points from the webinar
Small business owners can approach wellbeing by stripping back and simplifying, practising mindfulness and breathing exercises, and understanding the importance of wellbeing both in business and life.
You can't live an authentic and truly fruitful life without taking care of your wellbeing. Learn to incorporate better wellbeing into your life as a business owner to achieve business success without sacrificing your personal life.
As a small business owner, you need to recognise the blurred lines between work and life, and prioritise your wellbeing by taking care of your physiological needs. Remember that work is a part of life, not the other way around.
Building a business without wellbeing as a foundation leads to unsustainable highs and lows, resulting in burnout and an unsustainable way of running a business and living life.
To improve your wellbeing, focus on one thing at a time. Overload leads to inaction, and building healthy habits is more achievable when concentrating on one thing at a time.
Identify your core values and decide what is important to you.
Prioritise small, achievable habits like quality time with your partner, a simpler bedtime routine (like putting your phone away 30 minutes before bed) or taking regular breaks throughout the working day (try scheduling just one lunch break per week and gradually increasing the frequency).
Developing a consistent daily routine with one small health-focused habit can have a significant impact on wellbeing overall.
With physical exercise to improve physical fitness, start with something small and repeat it consistently over time. Gradually increase the intensity and frequency.
