Arbeit Studios is delighted to announce the launch of the third residency for ReRooted Residency Programme 23/24 located in Trowbridge Gardens, Hackney Wick (E9).

All London creatives, either individuals and collectives, working in ecology, sustainability and/or nature, are invited to propose work that will be made and installed in the new north garden space and spend four months working in Trowbridge Gardens.

This open call is for the third residency phase: August 24 to November 24 (Exhibition December 24 / January 25).

If successful, you will be offered a self-contained studio space for four months to develop and create the work. During the residency, you will be asked to host a series of workshops for the local community based on your practice. At the end of the residency, your work will be installed within the garden area for three months and your process and development work will be displayed in the gallery from December 24 to January 25. Selected artists will have access to other facilities on site, including a podcast studio and gallery space.

Trowbridge Gardens, launched in 2019 in partnership with Hackney Council, is a mixed-use creative workspace, including 25 workspaces, a new podcast studio, a cafe and the Trowbridge Gardens Gallery. We also opened a third garden on April 23, which is now an experimental outdoors publicly accessible exhibition space dedicated to sustainable and ecologically minded arts.

You will receive:

  • Artist fee of £4,000 in total for the four-month residency
  • A free workspace for the duration of the residency (up to four months)
  • Production fee of £1,000 for the work
  • Workshop fee of £150 per workshop (up to three workshops)
  • Completed work to be installed into a public-facing garden, around sustainability, ecology or nature

All are welcome to apply, and we are particularly interested in submissions from creatives living in Hackney and the nearby area, as well as those from underrepresented groups in the art sector.

Deadline to apply: 21st July 2024

Eligibility requirements

Open to professional artists who reside in London, working in ecological-minded arts in any creative field.
