HND in Leadership and Management for England (HTQ)

Students will gain a wide range of business knowledge tied to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. Students are involved in vocational activities that help them to develop vocational behaviours and transferable skills.

By the end of Level 4, students will have sound knowledge of the basic concepts of leadership and management. They will be competent in a range of subject-specific skills, as well as general skills and qualities relevant to key areas of business.

The Level 4 (Year 1) units will provide students with a broad introduction to business and different business functions. Units are: 

• The Contemporary Business Environment 
• Marketing Processes and Planning 
• Management of Human Resources 
• Leadership and Management 
• Accounting Principles 
• Project Management 
• Operational Planning and Management 
• Digital Business in Practice

The Level 5 (Year 2) units give students the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and behaviours aligned to the Occupational Standard (OS) for Operations or Departmental Manager. Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, deal with uncertainty and complexity, explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation and use theory and practice in a wide range of business situations.

The Level 5 (Year 2) units give students the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and behaviours aligned to the Occupational Standard (OS) for Operations or Departmental Manager. Units are: 

• Organisational Behaviour Management 
• Managing and Leading Change 
• Principles of Organisational Management 
• Business Strategy 
• Business Information Technology Systems 
• Developing Individuals, Teams, and Organisations 
• Business Communications and Relationship Management 
• Business Data Analytics and Insights

On successful completion of the course, students will achieve the following qualification: BTEC Higher National Diploma in Leadership and Management for England [EDEXCEL]
